Over here in the Netherlands we mainly use the colour orange as a sign of nationalistic enthusiasm. It's the colour of our monarchy, you see. This is a bit sad for those few people who would love to abolish the monarchy, but they tend to be slightly irritating people anyway.

Why don't you guys have orange on your flag anymore? It looked nicer that way.

Huh? I don't think that ever was the case. The current Dutch flag has been around since the Eighty Year War (1568 - 1648), the Netherlands came out of that conflict as a republic with the Oranje's (the ancestors of our current king) as stadtholders, a kind of regent.

That we're pretty good with potatoes and better when it comes to water management. Dutch cuisine is not really a thing, but it's still better than the British alternative. At least we know what vegetables are.

I have it every other week, or when a Chinese friend is having a birthday celebration. Peking duck is pricey, but delish with fried rice and/or steamed veg.
