so the US government changed its stance from "ebola isn't going to come here, but if it somehow does, any cases will be easily isolated" to "there will be an outbreak here, but it'll be small."

Ebola spreads like ringworm. Since a lot of people have ringworm, this isn't really assuring.

Oh, trust me. It'll most certainly come here considering the state of world travel, but considering it thrives best in the environment it's currently and unfortunately thriving quite well in, and its spread is rather inefficient considering its abject virulence, the US Government's first stance was the correct one. This'll blow over. Of course, a lot of people will be infected in the Western African region. Which is why we should still take preventative and quarantining measures, obviously.

There is no 'turn Sierra Leone into radioactive slag' option, the poll is flawed.

Ebola is much more difficult to contract than ringworm, actually. Ringworm spreads by skin contact, ebola spreads by fluid exchange.

You are joking... right?

I don't think a plague only affected some one the poorest nations on earth really is a Bubonic Plague.

After studying the three major countries affected, I can see why its rapdily spreading.

I feel sorry for the people there who are infected and the WHO aid members who are as well.

So it appears the locals are destroying the Ebola treatment centers. http://www.buzzfeed.com/jinamoore/two-d ... ws#48g2df9

They can not get people to remain in place for treatment much less quarantine purposes. The outbreak will continue.

If I had the authority, then I would impose martial law on the infected regions. No airplanes, boats or any transport in or out of the areas, the quarantine of all victims, the burning of all corpses and severe punishment for those who do not follow the guidelines. More medical staff are, in my opinion, needed, as well as much more money to help fund hospitals and medical centres.

One would have to impose martial law and the closing down of transport to stop the spread. Only then can we concentrate on finding cures and treatments.

The governments in Africa are not really that strong. Even with the military.

They generally tend to hold the capitol and key resource areas to maintain control.

Yeah, good luck enforcing that. The affected area is enormous and the governments in those locations are hopelessly ineffective in the best of times.

Also, good luck collecting bodies from a population that, in some areas, still believes in witchcraft.

As awful as it is, we need to use force to help contain the infection.
