Wow no one is making comments about how once Canada gets nukes they will shed there peaceful disguise and invade the USA with the help of the Republican party to form the United States of Canada and Jesusland, oh how people have grown up. But in seriousness it wont make much of a difference to Canada having nukes or not and their is little point to having more than 10 if they have any at all..

Canada should absolutely take steps to defend itself from The U.S. and other nuclear powers.

I think this is one of the must lunatic suggestions I've seen on NSG in oh, a day or two.

No, Canada does not need OR want nuclear weapons.

Yeah, totally, give the Canadians nuclear weapons. Montreal loses (or wins) another Stanley Cup and the whole city gets vaporized.

Unlike European nuclear sharing, Canadian nuclear weapons were actually issued to Canadian air force units IIRC.

If the US declares war on Canada, the rest of NATO and the Commonwealth will pretty much cut the states down to size, and with Britain and France as Nuclear Powers, I don't think Canada really needs nukes, not to mention Nuclear Treaty's preventing their use. Besides, We need all our Uranium for Power Production.

Sure, but that doesn't mean Canada "owned" them. We never produced our own nuclear weapons, only had them under the auspices of the US, despite us "controlling" them to an extent, from my understanding of what I've read.

Yep. Here's the WIki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada_and ... _armaments. Never said anything about them making their own, why would they when they could get them from the US?

Edit: I misunderstood, they were never solely owned by Canada. Still, they "hosted" them and did have partial control. The OP talks as if getting Nukes would be totally new.

My misunderstanding, I thought you were or had stated that Canada had made/produced its own. It's as I thought, we only had use of them under the auspices of the US. Thanks for the clarifying. *tip o' non-existent hat*

Why on Earth...? Please... Nukes shouldn't even exist in the first place. Nukes are a tool of extortion by the state elite. Nukes turn into a serious business when someone is crazy, such as Sarah Palin or Hillary Clinton -- or any other possible militarist.

Infected Mushroom wrote:Canada isn't safe. It relies too much on the USA, if the USA turns against it or if the USA is unwilling to defend Canada when Canada gets attacked, it is doomed. Canada must get nuclear weapons. Then no one would dare invade it no matter the profits because Canada could retaliate with a nuclear strike. I'm surprised that Canada doesn't have nuclear weapons. France, the UK, China, and Russia all have them so why not Canada?

Canada is perfectly safe. I think the world would be safer if people cooperated together, you know traded and changed goods, instead of being prepared to destroy mankind.
