Anytime you conduct military operations near civilian populations, for the purpose of attempting to deter your enemy from firing upon you, you are using human beings as shields. You are forcing your enemy to put civilian lives at risk in order to defend themselves from assault.

I am and continue to be pro-Israel. Most people seem to forget that half of Palestine's government consists of the Hamas, a recognized terrorist organization. Israel has a right to defend itself from the unrelenting barrage of missiles from the Gaza Strip, and when retaliating exercises far more effort to prevent civilian deaths than any other government in the world. When America was targeted by terrorists, they flew half way around the world and invaded two countries, causing the death of over 60,000 civilians. They did not use a knock on the roof method, they did not even warn civilians of pending missile attacks. But did people even bat an eye? No. Israel remains the target of double-standards and hypocritical criticism. Israel should, and has a right, to exist. They have been indigenous to the region for thousands of years, longer than the Palestinians. Also, Israel IS a secular democracy.

I'm for a two state solution but Palestine must recognise Israel as well as vice versa. The next best solution is the federlisation of the region with the Gaza Strip and the West Bank becoming autonomous regions of Israel, although I doubt that idea be popular.

Well, there are left-leaning organizations in Israel who are putting up one hell of an outcry over it, not that you've ever given them any moral support or even bothered trying to learn anything about them. There are also relatively liberal Israelis who have a soft-Zionist outlook who would be compatible with more reasonable compromise than the current government, but people don't seem to care about the fact that they exist. Did you know that there were human rights organizations in Israel who are actually making legitimate charges against IDF forces? Do you know anything about them?

You don't because you don't want there to be a solution. You care about your ideology first, people second, so spare me your fucking crocodile-tears. There are good people in Israel who could use your moral support, damn it, or at least recognition of their existence.

I'm pro Palestine. Always have been, always will. That does not mean however, that I am supportive of Hamas. Yes, their intentions may be noble, but they are still a terrorist organization.

That being said, I honestly do not see any solution that's going to leave everyone happy. Lord knows that Israel will not accept a two-state solution OR a secular single state solution. And, for that matter, neither will Palestine.

Regarding Hamas, it's their intentions which make them a terrorist organization. Both them and Fatah want a liberated Palestine, but Fatah wants co-existence with Israel while Hamas does not.

I was thinking of Bosnia and Herzegovina as the model for a Federal Israel-Palestinian state with the Bosniaks, Serbs and Croats living together. Although Bosnia isn't a model state either due to the ethnic conflict there.
