Religion plays a role in everyone's lives, at least to a small extent.
Even if someone is atheist or agnostic, society participates in many religious activities. For Americans, it is Christianity. We all participate in practices influenced by a historically religious culture, to the point that we don't even notice it.
Which activities does our society participate in that is religious?
"We all participate in practices influenced by a historically religious culture, to the point that we don't even notice it."
1) "Under God" in the Pledge.
2) Prayers before public meetings.
3) National Motto, and various State Mottos
4) Stores closing early on Sundays.
5) A general stigma against people who are irreligious.
6) A public official asking for thoughts and prayers in times of crisis.

None of the things I mention are explicitly Christian, but have been influenced by a Christian culture.
