You got a point there. A strong point, even. Unfortunately the ignore function doesn't stop any replies with quotes to the messages of the ignored one from appearing on your screen. Also I suddenly can't find the ignore function anymore, even though it is true that I haven't been looking very hard.

The "Add Foe" button under somebody's profile is the Ignore function.

When you look at your User Control Panel, you can see which of your friends are actually online. That's pretty much it, I believe. It can be a handy tool, but don't expect fireworks and puppies.
