So, what have we learned from all of this? Don't give air defense systems to extremists.

What the fuck?
Your nation is like a son. What it does right is your merit, as well as what it does wrong is your fault. When you praise it, be lucid and avoid exaggeration. Praising it too much can make it indolent. On the other hand, when you criticize it, be harsh, but do not ridicule it. Do your best to improve it, not through derision or disdain, but through good examples and dedication.

Bury the survivors? That would be rather cruel. Unfortunately, there aren't any, though. Dutch victims from plane crashes have always been repatriated in the past, I think that will happen again.

Apparently the unit responsible is a Russian-backed Cossack unit. But that's coming from the Kyiv-Post so pinches of salt may be needed.

I wouldn't be surprised. The Cossacks admitted it in a leaked piece of intelligence collected by Ukrainian Intelligence, I'm sure NSA has this and much more.

People attack the poster when they have nothing useful to add.

It was a tragedy and we still don't know what happened (except from bias sources like Ukraine's interior ministry) let's wait and see. The fact that so many instantly go on anti-Russian tirades is proof of the dangerous current of Russophobia in our time.

Other sources say it was shot down by a 9K37 Buk missile system. Soviet made.

Agreed. The time for a serious discussion with the Russians has come, if they don't like what we have to say, then they can just deal with it, and go sit in the corner like they did during the Soviet era.

Russian backed Cossacks claimed responsibility for this.

I can't verify whether it's real, but I'm sure the NSA has something quite a bit better in terms of intel about this.

In my opinion, it was likely either the separatists or the Ukrainian military, and likely a case of mistaken identity. Both the Ukrainians and separatists have sufficiently sophisticated air defense systems to shoot the plane down.

By the way, Russia has earned it's bad reputation in the West, and fully deserves it. Everyone who doesn't worship Putin and Russia is not a "Russophobe" or a racist.
