I considered that in the past. My research turned up staying in the states and not going overseas and it appealed to me. However, my mother claims to have done research that says the National Guard is supposedly the first to touch ground in conflicts overseas..
You get deployed more than active duty, but for half as long. Hell, just be a desk jockey.

Is it in the tuition range you want? (And yes, "cost of living" is vastly different than "tuition").
Tuition is about 29k per year. But Johnson and Wales is well known for their outstanding aid packages.
Room and board is about 9k - 12k per year but with the nearest location in Charlotte, I could still live in my mother's house and make the commute to Charlotte everyday. About a half hour drive away.

Then you should fill the package and send it. You lose nothing by doing that, and then after that you can go ahead and fill out the FAFSA. I did mine as soon as I started applying for colleges. I wanted to know exactly what was my budget before making decisions about colleges.

So go for it. Either he's saying go for it bro, I'm done with this crazy bitch, or he's messing with you. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, go for it anyway.

Maybe I'd have had 2 or 3 school accept me if I was Hispanic or legally female.

The hell? That's fucked up.
Or lack thereof, from what I recall.

As a hispanic whose father couldn't afford tuition (6 children and all) and my FAFSA funding was total because of my dad's tax return's net income being quite low and someone who was going blind and thinking he was a U.S. Permanent Resident (And it's hard to get outside scholarships if you are not a U.S. Citizen, as I came to find out), I had no choice but to start in a community college.
I did not get lucky because of my minority status, I had to think about money just like everyone else.
