There's a reason the National Guard seemed appealing to many, many Vietnam potential drafters for a reason.

Besides, if you land in a logistics role you won't ever see combat unless everyone around you starts dying.

Oh, I figured being an island in Southeast Asia would mean it would be humid as hell all the time. That's good to hear. I could live with 80s to 90s year round if its too humid. But no I have to live in South Dakota, where we see 120 degree temperature swings over the course of the year.

Tuition is about 29k per year. But Johnson and Wales is well known for their outstanding aid packages.

Room and board is about 9k - 12k per year but with the nearest location in Charlotte, I could still live in my mother's house and make the commute to Charlotte everyday. About a half hour drive away.

I am not sure what being a minority has to do with me getting Federal Aid funds as I did not apply for the Hispanic Scholarship fund or anything; it all was based on Pell Grants and Subsidized Stafford.
Manning you had your pick of schools to go to. Most schools will take a racial minority student over a white one, to show diversity et al. Applying as a white male (even though I answered N/A or "other" for both, though my SSN shows me as a white male) didn't help me at all, probably hurt me a bit. Maybe I'd have had 2 or 3 school accept me if I was Hispanic or legally female.
