What we need is a centrist leaning right. What we are likely to get is either a leftist that makes Obama look conservative, or (more likely) the opposite

Yes it does. Republicans advocate for a racist agenda that harms black people at the expense of white people and black people are aware of this, that's why there aren't very many black Republicans.

Hey! Your post-count two posts ago was literally '1337'! :p

Had you stopped there, we might have been spared yet another sermon about how Republicans are "racist" just because they ascribe to the welfare state or identity politics.

A right leaning centrist? I'd be fine with that, and I'm sure the hypothetical right leaning candidate would be a democrat.

I don't see why you would make such a assumption. You shouldn't bluntly say "Rand Paul will be our next president."

Obama and Carter haven't destroyed us. Obama has overseen a strong economic recovery as well as a decent foreign policy, while Carter, though incompetent, didn't do anything disastrous.

Identity is inherent in politics and welfare is necessary to having a state. Republicans reenforce racism in basically everything they advocate for.

Well, "American standards" towards classifying political affiliation aren't often correct. If you want a right leaning centrist by "American standards", that would describe republicans like Rubio or even Romney, as they're often seen as "moderate."

Decent foreign policy?

Not good, not bad, but decent. He withdrew troops from Iraq, has tried to help Syria, and has done a fairly decent job in making sure that the crisis in Crimea didn't escalate. Sure, there were some flaws in his foreign policy, but his foreign policy is much, much better than his hawkish predecessor.

Decent foreign policy?

Obama is always bad for one of two reasons.

He's either too weak and the fact that we are not at war with Iran, Syria, Russia, and China makes us look weak or he's a brutal fascist who makes everyone hate us.

Truth is, he's neither.
