Cruz pisses off a lot of people. I strongly believe that Paul will nominate Marco Rubio as his running mate. Moderate enough to grab the traditional conservative vote, has Hispanic outreach and has youth to balance out the ticket.

But I wouldn't discount Cruz becoming Senate Majority Leader some day down the line.

Anyway, the only Republican I could stomach being President is Christie, but I wouldn't advocate that, nor do I agree with him on anything. And he's a bully/corrupt, but his policies aren't too extreme. He's just relatively moderate and NJ hasn't really become a bastion of conservatism ever since his governorship started. But I can imagine he'd have to make himself more conservative for the national stage, i.e. what Romney did. (As gov. of Massachusetts he was pretty centrist) So I would not support him, but I'd rather him than Jeb Bush..

I don't know why they do that. A plurality of Americans consider themselves 'independent', so a far-right candidate is going to find it harder to win the election. Democratic candidates are pretty centrist. (those from the Progressive caucus are never/rarely chosen for the Presidential candidacy) Although, when Republicans choose someone moderate, they end up alienating the Tea Party people.

Although I'm not for genocide; I think disease, war, starvation, and other natural population checks would function as they're supposed to if they were left to work.

EDIT: It would be really pertinent to specify that I'm also a localist and value pluralist, and believe that families and towns and counties should regulate themselves as they see fit. I'm fine with other people disagreeing and wanting to live their own way, so long as they grant the same to my family and friends and I to act as we believe is moral as well.
