No. Not at all.

*sigh* I don't want to leave japan. They're so nice here. But my visa expired so I'm going home today.

I want to believe, but I don't want to be like those people you know?

I've heard people say how good it makes them feel. That they don't feel like their lives are meaningless, but they're so mean. I'm just tired of being dust in the wind

Then don't be. Christianity has more distinct groups and denominations than any other major religion out there. Look into some of the ones that are very different from what you're used to.

As far as "low church" Protestantism goes, check out the Quakers and the Mennonites. They're... something else (I say that positively, and I think they're all really nice people).

Or, for something completely different, dare I say it, consider the Orthodox Church. :)

Before Conscentia throws in a "define God?" remark, as it always should be the decision on what/ or who you believe in is totally up to you.

Why does this have to be so hard?

I used to profess God, but the church never really accepted me and said I was going to hell because I dressed a certain way, or spike a certain way, or listened to certain music, or had certain friends. Then I became numb

If we do not have a purpose, why exist?

Then your church was wrong. But there are others. God is not defined by the hurtful actions of one small group of people who try - probably sincerely, but incorrectly - to follow Him.

You shouldn't live just because you believe you have to perform a function - that's no way to live. You should live because you actually want to live, not because ceasing to live would mean you've failed to perform your function. You should live for the things you like about life, or to acquire the aforementioned things.

Living just to do stuff you like? How... small and petty.

I'd rather be a tool for a grand purpose any day rather than live just because I want to have fun.

If you find a church that will accept someone that likes anime, rock music, fantasy literature, and hangs out with people at the comics store, let me know. That was all " of satan"

Seems mostly semantics to me. We all live to do what makes us happy. What makes you happy is contribute to a grand purpose, other people may prefer other activities.
