You are not required to be right about everything in order to be a good Christian. You are also not required to keep up with modern scientific knowledge in order to be a good Christian. Being a good Christian is about loving God and your fellow human beings. It's not about how much you know or whether your opinions about natural history are correct or false.
Having said that, of course it helps to be informed about modern scientific knowledge. It is a good thing. But it is not related to your status as a Christian.
Is propagating false information that could potentially eventually lead to deaths something a good christian should do ?
If not, is ignorance an excuse ?
