Then, what's all the fuss about introducing religious curriculum to schools when we're just giving information?

Do you know what indoctrination is? I really want to know.

There's a difference between talking about a specific faith and wanting kids to be part of it. Other than in history, religion (as a moralistic way of thinking) has no place in public schools.

Because what most Christians use as "information" is in fact indoctrination.

A world religions' class which provides equal time to explore each and every religion is more than enough in schools to provide information. What most Christians think when they say "religious curriculum" isn't.

When it's Islam, it's giving information. When it's Christianity, it's "indoctrination". Double standard much?

Historically we've used these terms against one another. Trust me.

I'm a Scotsman who comes from a family that lost much of its fortune and prestige circa 1745 over this sort of thing. I definitely know my stuff on this point.

For what it's worth though, we use the term "separated brethren" in the Catholic Church these days. I don't indulge in attacking my brothers in the faith and much prefer to pray for the reunification of our one holy Catholic and apostolic Church as it was founded by Jesus Christ.

Apostasy is a formal disaffiliation or abandonment of a religion. Heresy are beliefs contrary to orthodox religion.

An apostate, simply put, is someone who renounces the religion. If I was to, say, convert from Christianity to Buddhism tomorrow I'd be an apostate by Christianity proper.

A heretic is someone who has unconventional beliefs, or who is in formal error. An agnostic Christian is someone who is in error because of their agnostic beliefs. That doesn't make them an apostate.

The Nicene Creed is a good starting point. You have to believe in a Holy Trinity, in a single God, that Jesus Christ was the son of God, that He was crucified, that He was resurrected, and that He will come again.

You know, the usual Christian stuff.

You are confused between Hindu and Muslim. Yes, we eat cow. In Hackensack, there is a great Halal restaurant that serves excellent burgers. I tried to take my husband there once but forgot that it was jummah. Then I got mad at my husband for not being at the masjid.
