Yup. In the UK private and public mean the same thing. Here government-owned/run schools are referred to exclusively as state schools

Actually Public Schools are slightly different to Private Schools.
The headteachers of Public Schools are part of a 'Common Interest Body.'
(Although they are very similar.)

The only difference between public and private schools in the UK is that the public schools were originally the older, more established institutions of education, unlike the private schools, which were often perceived as being profit-driven in Victorian times. This is in fact dealt with the Public Schools Act 1868, which regulated the various public and private institutions. Nowadays the terms mean precisely the same thing.

To add to the confusion, the initial public schools are very occasionally referred to as Great Public Schools (which is what they were called in the PSA 1868). It's probably a good idea to call them independent schools, like the UK newspapers often do.

With public I meant state-owned. Though, in my country, there are private schools that also have full functioning farms. However, those private schools are usually in places populated with wealthy European or American expatriates (with children) and wealthy "hacienda" owners

If I had my way there would be no social class, but there you go. Social class is well entrenched and is not going away any time soon - get a thicker skin and come up with a way to break the system, basically.

You could say I come from a "privileged" background in perspective. In a country where my dad was close to be among the top-families rank (and there are 14 of them in El Salvador) in terms of economic influence, it's safe to say I wasn't a poor man either.

Hmm.. well.. I suppose.. but how do you think a mid-level income nation such as Costa Rica goes about funding so many subsidies? Xc we're so full of taxes... At least we're still significantly cheaper than the US, but we're one of the most expensive places to live in the whole of Latin America.

The newest iPhone costs double what it costs in the US.. but a bag of potato chips cost 0,15 USD I'd rather the chips cost double and the iPhone half of what it costs in the US

How? These things rarely look like anything but a conversation before fists start to fly. If a group of kids simply congregating is a red flag, administrators are going to be hard pressed to get anything done.
