As of now in Syria there are two factions that have a serious chance of winning. One of them is Bashar Al-Assad, who maintains a secular regime that grants civil rights to the populace and maintains order between the various Muslims and Christians in the nation. The other is the ISIL, which wants to establish a jihadist regime which would probably launch a massive genocide against all non-muslims, instill sharia law, and generally fuck things up in the region to a huge degree.
