I like Deus Ex because it tells a good story, and it ties in all loose ends from the previous two games. Also, it does make body enhancement technology so practical and achievable. It's like, even though you see people augmented in the game and you know is not real in real life that there's these enhancements, you can't not stop and think that they are quite achievable technologies, especially in the way they are described.

Those games do explore the idea of a very possible/probable future. Although, I'm not much into the technocracy like games, sci-fi like. Well, scratch that. I did enjoy the Mass Effect trilogy and find the Star Craft Kerrigan arc quite enjoyable.

Mass Effect and Star Craft are too fantastical for me  their lore is hundreds of years after us and into intergalactic travel without explaining the backstory in much detail, and even the backstory makes several leaps and leaves more questions unanswered than what it does answer. It puts you on a suspense of disbelief type of thing.

I enjoy realistic games that provide a plausible future. The opportunities are quite endless with a realistic game exploring an alternate history.

Just because you don't like someone is no excuse to bully them in public.

You don't get to choose who posts in this thread.

If someone breaks the rules, we'll take appropriate action; not liking someone is not reason enough to try and force them out of the thread by making them feel unwelcome.

The mildly baiting dogpile stops now.

Thank you.

In hindsight, yeah I was too harsh.

Not much detail!? Have you played Mass Effect, Soldati? There must be at least 100 codex entries you can collect in that game, all detailing the history and mechanics of the universe.

Really? :eyebrow:
Mass Effect happens to be one of the most historically(Fictionally) detailed games in the industry, you have an explanation for almost everything in the entire series.

After FFXIII and FFXIII-2, the franchise has me very disappointed. I haven't played FFXIV yet, not sure if its out yet over here, but I hope it redeems the Lightning debacle. That, by far, has been the worst FF storyline I've ever played, worse than VIII.

I've seen Mass Effect, never played it. However, the only thing I have against the game is that; that the entire thing relies on suspense of disbelief. I mean, really, do you expect me to believe that in 169 years we will be able to explore our neighbour galaxies?

FFXIV was relegated to Online Gaming status and FFXV is a next-gen game. Lightning Returns was the last game for the XBOX 360.

I enjoyed the game after I got used to the mechanics. I like the Active Battle System they implemented. The system got so much acclaim they are refining it for the next FF.

Cause you don't, you explore other parts of our Galaxy, but you don't go to other galaxies at all.
(Wait, didn't you think ST was an intergalactic franchise? Cause it's not, it almost entirely takes place in the Milky Way except for maybe 1 episode of TNG)

That was a classical "carrot stick" kind of plot.

I enjoyed Final Fantasy 4, 6, 7, X, and X-2 as well as XIII-2 and Lightning Returns by far. Even Dirge of Cerberus.

The linear plot and the battle system are the greatest flaws I've seen in the FFXIII games. I absolutely hate the codification. If your main dies, you lose the battle. You have two other characters in your group and can't use them in battle. Not to mention that none of the characters in that series, none of them, had any redeeming qualities that endeared them to me. I couldn't empathize. And when I can't empathize, the game just becomes lackluster.

I know what you mean. I have to be honest and say that what attracted FFXIII-2 to me was the fact of time travel. I've been looking forever for a game that implemented that mechanic again. With Lightning Returns though I enjoyed the battle system. Sure, it was just one character in the screen, but you could switch abilities any time and you needed to have a strategy in place. The good thing about Lightning Returns is that they minimized grinding for it (which is bullshit, I don't find a game enjoyable if I have to grind for EXP).
