It started the same time my skin got so weirdly sensitive, late November 2011.

I'd say - when you can - go to a dermatologist, as it isn't really normal then.

The closest I can imagine is either urticaria or dermatographia. But, I am not a doctor so my judgement should only be taken with a grain of salt.

The same happens to me during the winter when my cat's furcoat is larger, which means more flea. I especially get it around the area where my socks cut off.

For me my condition is one that's not going away - psoriasis.

I have to use topical hydrocortizone cream to fend off the damn thing.

Coming from personal experience drinking a lot of water and putting about a Teaspoon of ether almond or olive oil in your baths goes a long way. It's not a prescription but it does help.

I mean, dermatographia explains the bit where I get welts/hives wherever anything touches me, but it doesn't explain the other stuff, like the blistering or the apparent allergy to fucking air

I am not bathing in oil. I can barely stand the oil I put in my hair, and I certainly can't use lube. Touching oil freaks me out.

Well you can also use a humidifier to like restore moister to skin and from what I've read non-petroleum products help put too.

Upper epidermis, right? Basically on the surface?

Still, doesn't make that any less inconvenient. I had a teammate with psoriasis, and more than the scaling/patching it was the discomfort that the itching caused her.

Yep, basically on the surface.

I hate it because I can't use dark clothing in a bad day, and it's just bad for my self-image.

In real life I am really self-conscious about my shape and how I look, even more self-conscious than normal, and it is because of that. The itching? I have learned how to deal with it, it's just the scaling and patching.

I have my own bizarre skin condition called dyshidrosis... it's a form of eczema and for me, triggered by extended periods of stress.

Why is this?

Because I got it on my scalp, and when my head sweats it itches like fuck so I scratch it and all the shit falls on my shoulders, along with bleeding of the scalp due to the scratching.

I always, always have to either keep my hair short or grow it to be curly so I can style it so it can breathe. Otherwise I suffer.

Boy does that sound like it sucks. Triggers dandruff too I presume as the patches flake?

Yep, the patches do flake so it looks like dandruff.

I use medicated shampoos to remediate it. Doesn't mean it goes away.

It's more a physical manifestation of my body saying that I'm putting myself through too much. It's only on my hands and makes stress rather painful to say the least.
