Non-Americans: Could you live in the United States?

I am an Australian and would never migrate to the US.
But first of all what you call "backward views" is a stupid reason not to , migrate to the US
Here is the reasons I would never migrate to the US:
A) Significantlynlower minimum wage and less worker's rights
B) Too cold
C) Too much crime
D) Drinking age 21 (I am 18)
E) Higher chance of war and terrorism
F) Too many shootings
G) People aren't as friendly
H) Lack of universal health care and substituted health care
I) Climate too cold in SOME places
J) Crowding (in MOST places)
K) GENERALLY more racism/classism
L) GENERALLY more poverty
M) Less regulations on food and medication

The shotgun is effective against multiple people, especially at close range. Seeing as this is a home invasion, unless you are on the other side of the house, it's close range.

Semi-autos are more effective against multiple intruders. Again, home invasions are incredibly common. In the U.S. alone, 1 out of every 5 homes will be victimized by a violent home invasion or burglary.

I'm Swedish, if I had to move to North America I would most likely pick Canada before the US, as I believe Canada is closer to what I am used to and believe in in a society.

If I had to move to the US I would probably choose to live in one of the northwestern states, Washington or Oregon as they seem to be the states closest to what I like.

As OP said, the two party system is really strange, along with the death penalty and anti gay marriage legislations that still remain in some states.

Well, 23 states legalized gay marriage, almost halfway there!

True, the USA as a whole is slowly getting there.
While I would probably not want to live in the US permanently I would like to visit someday.

1. Then move to the warm places.
2. Um, source? It yes has more crime than most industrialized nations, but "too much" is an exaggeration.

There was a story of a woman in Atlanta who was at home with her daughter as her husband was out working(she lived in a rich community) and this fucker broke in, she shot him 5 times with a handgun and he still survived, though he was pretty much out. IN the FACE. Imagine if there had been multiple intruders.

OP, you have valid reasons for not wanting to live in my country. But you really could have summed it up due to the fact that it's a cultural difference. The fact of the matter is, America is not Canada, and you are a Canadian who feels comfortable in a Canadian setting and surrounded by Canadian people. And you know what? I salute you, and your decision to not live in my country. Contrary to what some people may believe, America isn't for everyone, and that is a natural and healthy sentiment. Just as I would never live in Canada (unless I was forced to flee America due to a meteor strike or something), you wouldn't live here. While our countries are extremely similar in many ways, there are those key, intangible differences that are integral to national identity that separate us, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

To be fair, there is no cultural differnces between Canada and the US. They both based on protestant anglo-saxony.

What made the division between the two are the American revolutionary wars. Thoose who ancestors fought for the loyalists are modern-day Canadians. If Washingong have lost his war than Canada would be spreading acroos whole Northern America.

Yea, your bullets are made so that they don't do any damage (ball rounds that don't expand). If you want to do serious damage to someone and have them contort in pain expanding bullets are beast. However, they are illegal, so.
