I've given up with the most recent FM. Several times I've had really succesful starts to seasons and then out of nowhere I'll lose successive matches by at least 5 but sometimes 7 or 8 goals with every single shot from my opponents going in and no tactical way to halt the thrashing, even setting match strategy to "contain". I understand bad runs of form and I've had them before and can cope with them, but this level is something I've never seen before and the way there's nothing I can do completely saps my enthusiasm for whatever save it is. It's happened in three separate saves now, so it doesn't seem to be a one-off, either :/

Yeah, I gave up on it too and went back to 14. I had similar problems - One game I lost 8-0 (a game I should have been competitive in) after my keeper spilled four goals. They had eight shots, eight shots on goal, eight goals. That wasn't a one-off. I think they really weakened keepers and goalscorers now have the edge. 4-4 shouldn't be a common score line, but in FM15 it is.

Hopefully they patch the hell out of it to make it playable, but I'm not too annoyed since FM14 was really really enjoyable.

I'm really glad that at least someone else has noticed it. There's been people every edition saying "the game's broken, I make way more chances, opponent always wins!" and it hasn't been valid because they've just been counter-attacked or otherwise outwitted tactially - I don't want people to think I'm that annoying person who has souor grapes. But my players were pretty much standing still as the opponents stored a bunch of carbon-copy "walkover" goals. No shouts, no tactical changes, nothing would stop it. It's too much. I'll try it again after the next patch, but I'll twiddle thumbs for a while (I play no other games!)

Yeah. It's to the point of the exact same little animations used again and again. The game just feels rushed and sloppy, which is a shame because there was so much potential. Hopefully they've taken note of all the negative feedback and they'll take their time on getting 16 right.

Yes, I've experienced that before. I'd be cruising on a decent run with Arsenal, then I'd come up against United (who were upper-mid table at the time) and they'd trounce me - in the vein of 6 or 7-0, and despite playing it time and time again, I'd could never win, despite trying different tactics each time.

Another time, with Fulham, I played Derby and could simply never score. After about 8 times, I just put all my players up front (sort of a 0-1-9) and still couldn't bag a goal (and subsequently lost 8-0 or something because I had no defence), so I took the big defeat and took the subsequent fall-out, which is never nice.

lol. Literally laughed out loud.

Also, as Osarius pointed out earlier, MacIntosh was pretty close on the Lambert sacking timeline. Wonder if ol' MacIntoshstradamus is right on this, too (from that same article): "Aston Villa avoid the drop by a single point after a narrow last-day victory over Burnley."

I actually predicted this myself. Before Sherwood.

Uitbregen wrote:OK, someone who's more familiar with Football Manager than me, can you explain this to me?

I'm Arsenal manager, it's March 2018 and I've been in charge since the beginning of the game (July 2014). I've been pretty decent - I won the title in 2015/16 & the FA cup in 16/17. The club is on sound financial footing, and I've generally been a hero. I've made decent signings: Schurrle (who's been brilliant) for £25 mil, Khedira for £20, plus Alvarez Balanta (the guy who always gets good) for a good deal, as well as other good young guys who are going to turn out good. I've reached the semi-finals of the CL last season, and my job security is billed as 'untouchable' at the last Board Confidence Update. I recently caned Juventus (featuring a now world's best Paul Pogba) 5-0 in the CL Ro16. The only problem I've had is me being a muppet with players in regards to promising playing time: Santi Cazorla and Chris Smalling both got angry at me and wanted to force their way out, then all of a sudden the entire team was pissed off with me. Then, a day before the Capital One Cup final against Liverpool, the board sack me. WTF.

How important is team harmony to my job, and does anyone know a short-term fix to keep me my job (I've got a save about a week beforehand). It's really irritating as I've tried reloading twice and I get sacked both times, and this is the game where I want to take Arsenal as far as possible (i.e. the whole game)

Team harmony is probably the second most important thing to fan opinion. I would just agree to let the players go, and don't even bother trying to make a profit. Upset players ruin your whole squad. I've won titles with Real Madrid, Man Utd, and Chelsea, including a treble with Chelsea, and also massively failed as Spurs. The difference between winning trebles and failing massively was always player happiness.

The phrase ACAB is mostly true when it comes to the cops that police football matches.

It's a corrupted form of 'association football' used as a nickname by students of one of the Oxbridge universities to distinguish it from the other forms of football - the major one of which would have been rugby football or 'rugger'.

And thanks to these intrepid pioneers some of us can enjoy the blissful life that comes with calling no sports plain football, which is just confusing when you want to talk about the football (as opposed to the soccer ball).

Louis van Long Ball strikes again. That being said, Manchester United were probably as unlucky not to score during the start of the second half as they were lucky to score in the first. Just the sort of result that makes things very interesting, particularly if City wins this game and Chelsea and City both lose their next ones (City could draw if they weren't playing Liverpool).

When you vandalise a city, it has fuck all to do with football. Football is in such an instance just an excuse for peer pressured violence.

It is fantastically annoying, yeh.

I'm so close to the league title now. We've got 5 (7) games left, 4 of which are against the bottom 6, and the 5th is against one of the two teams that can catch us mathematically, the other of whom lost today so they can only be 1 point ahead of us.

So fucking close.
