Honestly, we keep to our morals because we have been taught that it was wrong. Originally, many moral teachings were i place to help survive. Humans worked in groups to hunt, protect themselves, etc. It didn't exactly help you survive to kill the other members of your tribe. Basically, even moral laws that are no longer beneficial to survival are kept because humans keep knowledge collectively, passing down important facts etc. to offspring to aid with survival, and sometimes people don't really think about why those things are beneficial, they just refrain from doing them because they were told it was bad. Similar to how Adam and Eve had no idea why they shouldn't eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, but still didn't do it(well, until ol' Luci came changed their minds). But if there is not a God, we still have reasons to follow the codes of morality set by our ancestors because we can achieve much more when working with one another, rather than competing with one another.

God made us with morals. Not because we want to do something but we can't because of hell god made us this way and to insure it he made hell. He made his laws to comply with the orginal morals he gave us.
