well no but it is hard to imagine that had sgt bergdahl died in captivity that you wouldn't be part of the chorus blaming the president for not doing everything possible to get him home.

I suppose it frees up the president to do as he pleases when he knows that no matter what he does the opposition will say its wrong. so he does what he thinks is right because there is no downside to doing it.

Do I have a biographical source on who the detainees were and what roles they played under the former Taliban government?

I do, but I'll let you pick the one YOU want. Google "Who are the five Taliban detainees returned in exchange for Bergdahl" and pick whatever news outlet you want; I'm sure you can find several different biographical sources on just the first page of hits alone.

Furthermore, didn't the Taliban originally request 20 prisoners in exchange for Bergdahl? If there are allegedly only 20 Taliban prisoners left in Gitmo then who were the other 15 they wanted?

The information I gave you was wrong, On CNN yesterday they said 15 prisoners and 1 million USD. They got five and no money(As far as we know)

what positions did you find them listed as holding. I don't remember the exact titles from when I looked it up but they were at least similar to the ones that asb gave

However, they were 'high risk' for launching terror attacks against the US if released.

ya know.....they have been out of it for a dozen years. what terror attacks could they do that a guy who has been active for a dozen years wouldn't already have thought of and have the connections to get done? nn
