Yes it might impact their sociability, or their ability to function within a so-called 'standard' society, but that doesn't mean that people with autism have anything less to contribute than anyone else. I would imagine that if it were possible to remove the causes of autism, this world would be missing many of its great artists, inventors, mathematicians and scientists.

Perhaps we should cure creativity, along with compassion and any other abhorrent weakness that seems to plague these lesser beings in the eyes of you, the 'normal' man. How very dare you.

Insulting someone's pride /self determined position is a poor argument unless you give reasons why he should not be on his "high horse"

I certainly have ADHD, while I'm typing, I'm thinking of more words, and skip a word or two thinking I gave already typed them, I need to slow down.

Doesn't ADHD just make you hyper and have time perception differences. All I really know about it is from Percy Jackson, which isn't the best place to get info.

no, the theory is that the portion of an adhd kids brain that exerts control over the rest of it, in freudian terms the superego, i dont know what the proper term for the physical portion of the brain, runs slower than the rest of it, which is why drugs like ritilan, which is a form of speed, actually speed up that portion of the b rain so it can function in a somewhat normal fashion.

i am not mearly as up to speed on adhd as i am as autism because i dont have to deal with it on a day in day out basis.
The West won the world not by the superiority of its ideas or values or religion … but rather by its superiority in applying organized violence. Westerners often forget this fact; non-Westerners never do.

The most fundamental problem of politics is not the control of wickedness but the limitation of righteousness.

I am autistic and all I know about ADHD kids is you get to go to a camp and train your superhuman powers before going on quests to save the world.

The appeal to great historical autistic savants does not make any sense. There is no way to diagnose a historical person reliably with anything. You're not imagining, you're assuming and we all know what that makes of u and me.

You know, if there were a cure and it was denied to an ASD person, particularly on the low functioning side, due to a religious reason, I'd say that would be irresponsible.

Creativity is incredibly valuable, as it allows people to come up with new solutions to problems. Compassion is also important, as we are a social species and we work best in collaboration, something that is impossible when one cannot sympathize with his fellow man. Thankfully, neither of those traits are exclusive to autistic people, nor would be removed from people who were cured of their autism.

I'd say that would be criminally negligent, same as if someone were denied treatment for any other debilitating disease.

As a high-functioning autistic, it depends on my mood. Sometimes, I feel it is a good thing that I have it, but other times, I wish I never had it. As for curing it, you cannot exactly cure a spectrum, because there are some who function just as well as a neurotypical person whilst others are low-functioning.
