I wouldn't presume to define it. I'm not criticizing the spectrum thinking at all. I'm pointing out that people are't used to that kind of looseness in medical terms. Interestingly enough, according to wikipedia there is some controversy whether Aspergers should be included in the autism spectrum. I personally would prefer syndromal autism/non-syndromal autism to LFA/HFA.

I'm aware there is a definition. I was just pointing out that our understanding of the condition is so woefully inadequate that any definition is bound to evolve constantly as we learn to understand the condition more. As is apparent by the almost yearly changes in the definition and the diagnostic criteria.

Perhaps you should get a checkup and have a doctor tell you for sure. If you're ASD, it's probably high functioning and high functioning autism manifests differently in people.

Autism is about your mind being wired in a different way to other people. Who are you to decide which is right or wrong? And how dare any of you without it expect that those with it have some need to be cured.

Yes it might impact their sociability, or their ability to function within a so-called 'standard' society, but that doesn't mean that people with autism have anything less to contribute than anyone else. I would imagine that if it were possible to remove the causes of autism, this world would be missing many of its great artists, inventors, mathematicians and scientists.

Perhaps we should cure creativity, along with compassion and any other abhorrent weakness that seems to plague these lesser beings in the eyes of you, the 'normal' man. How very dare you.
