I also have aspergers. :)

The reason he did not commit rape was because he didn't want to for one reason or another.

Hmm, not to jump into lynch mob mentality mode here, but ahs anyone ever looked into a link a between violent sociopathy and asperger syndrome? I mean, that's three pretty solid anecedotes, which sure don't necessary establish much of anything but they certainly do beg the question of a possible link. ;)

It really makes me sick that people are debating that he didn't look bad- that doesn't matter. Gun control? He probably owned it legally. The real issues here are mental health and misogyny. Specifically, the stigma that being mentally unwell is bad or means that somebody is {crazy} or {evil} (especially among conservatives, just an observation). It's that stigma that kept him from getting the help he needed. He was obviously susceptible to society too, because around everyone constantly are the images that women are sexual beings and he was under that impression, that they should have sex with him just because he had male genitalia. Nobody is really seeing the underlying problems.

Actually, i've gotta hand it to the pro gun control crowd for largely leaving that out of a mass shooting discussion for once. Seems as though people have decided that really mostly on anecdotal incidents as a basis for policy decisions might not be the wisest course. Well I can certainly use other smileys if you prefer. :)

Also not it's by no means every post, heck some post remain entirely smiley fre, though I admit those are more rare.

I generally just don't think the wink is that much of an indication of non-seriousness. I mean, when I'm not being serious I generally end with  rather than anything else.

So...kind of related:
A man opened fire on three women early Saturday after the women refused to have sex with him and his friends, according to the Stockton Police.

Authorities said the women accompanied the men to Rosemarie Lane, near Pacific Avenue and March Lane. Around 1:45 a.m., the women declined when the men asked them to have sex, and the men ordered them to leave.

As the women were leaving, one of the men fired about eight rounds from a 9mm handgun at them, but no one was injured.

So, luckily he's a shitty shot, but in the same vein...so entitled to pussy that violence ensues when they don't get it.

There are a lot of factors that go into any act of this kind, sure, but it doesn't seem out of line to have a discussion about sex and expectations and all that entails.
"...I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

Hate to intervene, but it seems like he's expecting girls to drop their metaphorical relationship panties at his feet. He's expecting a relationship, but expecting anything in terms of relationships from people is sorta messed up... I do have to agree, the whole feminism movement isn't always right (though I categorize myself as a feminist usually). There is a flaw there, though. Expecting anything is wrong. Relationships that are healthy require mutual affection, and it sounds like...I don't know. Just not like that. *shudders as I make sure to put my pepper spray in my laptop bag*

I take issue with specific modifier, I'd think a "few" would be more fitting personally, at least in regards to modern feminists. But again I don't think feminist theory is especially applicable here, as the guy didn't just want sex. :)

glad we all agree then. :p

I think it's certainly a gross oversimplification. I mean even simple memes have exceptions. I do think this guy may have intrepetted the even simpler notion that "chicks did bad boys" to not only be literal, but also to mean that "bad boys" == "arrogant asshats", an obviously fallacious equivalency. :)

3. Not really. He wasn't that bad looking. Even if that weren't the case, that doesn't entitle him to "sympathy" or "understanding", because "poor Quasimodo couldn't find Esmeralda".

Just on the surface, I'd say him trying to "deal with it" didn't go so well. Telling someone to "deal with it" for anything other than a one-off outburst about something utterly insignificant is about the worst piece of advice you can give.

Maybe if people could look past the flash car, the condo and his rich parents, they'd see a young adult who was really fucking angry and in desperate need of psychological help. Maybe if people had of been more understanding of the fact that he was angry, not why but that he was, he wouldn't have tried to shoot up a sorority.

Yeah, the Southern California area has no shortage of vapid people.
