Irish Local/European Elections Live!

Postby Begland » Sat May 24, 2014 1:43 am

It seems like the Independents are going to have a huge victory, but having the Socialist Party and People Before Profit in with them should stop in the polls. What will happen with that is unknown. Some polls say that Labour is like the Greens in the dog's bowl. How Sinn Féin do is probably going down due to their mostly young support and their working class support, especially with their extra council housing promises.

Ming the Merciless looks to be off to Europe to smoke weed and cut turf. I, for one, find this hilarious.

I would support any party that wants to prosecute every member or former member of the Irish Republican Army. I don't know much Irish parties, so if there is one like I mentioned, please link me to it.

Ruth Coppinger looking likely to take the bye election seat! This is a good day, unfortunately Paul Murphy isn't doing so well.

It may surprise you to learn that Irish politics have a bit more going on than former members of the IRA and what to do with them.

Does look like it'll be a happy day for the Socialists. RTE's live blog thing has them getting the same percentage of the tally as Sinn Fein.

That's a though one. Why do all the good socialist parties have to be eurosceptic? I'd have to vote for the Labour Party then, I suppose.

You'd nearly be alone in voting for Labour, apparently.

Haha, up yours, rest of Europe, how many blow up dolls do your elections have?

Damn, that is close. Hopefully Coppinger can get a fair few of the transfers, especially from Loraine Mulligan if she gets eliminated.

Seems more likely that she'd pick up the transfers than Donnelly.

Michael Kilcoyne(IND) elected in Mayo on first count.

In the Longford-Westmeath bye election, it looks like Gabrielle MacFadden of FG will be elected. For those of you who don't know, it was her sister who died to leave the seat vacant. No surprises there.

That is true. Second count is in now, Donnelly is on 6,120 and Coppinger is on 6,112. I'll be very surprised if David Mcguinnes can be a contender now. Hopefully the GP and LAB's votes will go Socialist.
