I was hoping to see enjoyable match but all I could see was referee.

This.

Should've been 2-2 imo. A goal was disallowed for Croatia after a questionable "foul" on the keeper and a penalty given to Brazil that was clearly a dive by Fred. Neither should've happened.

To be fair, it was an enjoyable match. Croatia played their hearts out. That midfield of Rakitic, Modric and Kovacic is lethal.

I think Mandzukic would have made a difference. Many crosses that Mandzukic could have finished with head were unfinished.

They're also missing Kranjcar due to injury, which is unfortunate.

I don't see how that disallowed goal was anything but a foul. The Croatian has led with his arm. As for the penalty... if you're going to put your hands around a player in the box, that's a foul anyway, no matter whether Fred goes down or not.

I thought the penalty was soft. I don't think it was the most egregious refereeing error in the history of football, but it was soft, and I understand why Croats feel aggrieved there.

The "disallowed goal", though... the referee had blown the whistle and play had stopped well before the shot was taken (assuming we're all talking about the same incident). There might be some scope for good faith disagreement over whether the initial foul should have been given, but describing it as a 'disallowed goal' is misleading; I think so, anyway.

And I still think Croatia's goalkeeper should have saved the first and third goals.

I think the final scoreline was harsh on Croatia, but I still think Brazil deserved to win on balance; though 2-1.

Won, dunno - it's not like they were that active in their attack zone - but surely Brazil didn't deserve a victory: they constantly dived begging for fouls and cards. Their penalty was absolutely bollocks (no foul and irregular shot), and the action of their third goal started with a foul in the midfield. Plus, we could argue that Neymar should have been sent off way before the penalty.

Fred dived. It was a pushing motion, and he looked like he got Petrificius-Totalised onto Lovren.

Disallowed goal is disallowed. His arm impeded the keeper before he won the ball so the foul was committed before winning the ball, which was before scoring the goal.

Petikosa wasn't even confused by Neymar so called footwork. Petikosa got hands on ball but was just unlucky.

Not if you do on the spot after starting the run. Changing pace while STILL running is allowed. Running on the spot isn't.

That too. The Croatian goalie didn't offer a great performance overall, but that was really shitty luck.

Pletikosa should go to retirement. Subasic is a goalkepeer in Monaco and should replace him.

Basically. Maybe I'm a bit harsh, but I think the defender only has himself to blame in situations like this.

That doesn't excuse diving, though, obviously.
I personally think if someone should be blamed for "ruining the game", it's Fred. He was the one who cheated, not the ref.

I don't blame the ref at all. I mean, at full speed, in the heat of the moment, with subconscious bias perhaps acting on your thoughts, what do people expect? Without the benefit of replays, it was entirely reasonable to think he was pulled down. My immediate reaction was "hmm... not sure" it wasn't until I saw the replay that I could say "nah, that's not a penalty".
