You got to feel bad for the real fans of the Brazilian team. The ones that really follow the team in the good and bad times and not the ones that suddenly become fans just because the team is having a winning streak and or is about to play in a world championship game. And once things pass, they forget about the team or game unlike the real fans.

I admit, it's really heartbreaking to see the fans like this, to watch Brazil play this horrifically. This wasn't even a normal defeat, which I thought would happen with Neymar and Silva's absence anyway. They were routed.

I will be changing my opinion on the Argentina and Netherlands game. Either of them have an equal chance of winning but now I lean somewhat toward Argentina for two reasons.

1. Tomorrow, July 09 is when Argentina and the Netherlands play each other. It is also Argentina's Independence day. Which means the players will be playing harder. After all, if they lose they cannot go back to Argentina.

2. The other reason is this song written to cheer on Argentina in the games. Its different but catchy. And the video shows the real ordinary fans.

It's one thing to celebrate the defeat of another team, it's another to actually enjoy the heartbreak of that team's fans. Especially if they are as dedicated to that team as the Brazilians were.

I've now watched last night's match - and no, I didn't know the score before sitting down to watch the full replay over breakfast (thank you, BBC iPlayer).

The 2014 World Cup in general seems to be the end of an era. Spain? Out in the group stage, along with Italy and England. Costa Rica? Won every match in it's group, the Group of Champions, and reached the QFs. America? Fought out of the the Group of Death and gave the darkhorse a run for its money, all while attracting record viewership at home. Algeria? Damn near got revenge for 1982. And then you have the Brazilian massacre here.

I'm kinda excited for 2018 now.

He's right. Maybe this is isn't the "death" of Brazilian football, but it's certainly the end of an era.

Brazil were always the ultimate footballing nation, but the current side are merely benchwarmers and sooner or later they were going to get caught out.
Can't believe it took everyone this long to realise that mediocre players like Fred, David Luiz and Marcelo aren't good enough to continue the legacy.

Actually, Costa Rica failed to defeat England. One of the few things it's possible to brag about, that we didn't lose to Costa Rica.
