If you could go back in history what event or catastrophe (personal or not) would you try to prevent from happening, and why this event?

The development of life on Earth would be a nice catastrophe to prevent. Might be a little tricky to do, though (I think geocide would be the simplest method).

I'm not talking about killing off the first man/woman, I'm talking about destroying Earth before any life develops at all (hence 'geocide').

The failure of the Jewish Revolt in 67 CE. This prevents the destruction of the Second Temple and the Diaspora. If I can somehow ensure that the new Jewish state remains independent, I can avoid pretty much all of the atrocities committed against my people in one fell swoop.

Mind you, I've thought about it, and the only way I can think of to do this would be to provide advanced technology to the Jews.

I would remove the causes of all wars that were not wars of independence, starting the day the 1783 Treaty of Paris was signed. I just don't like war. It's stupid and the Iraq war is disgusting to me.
