If Ireland wants to win, they need Irish girls with giant jugs singing about prejudice against cakes while bouncing on a trampoline. And they all need to have beards.

What have we learned from Eurovision so far?

-Danes are not funny at all
-Icelandic folk are more gay and tolerant than Swedes
-Tits can sell anything, especially when you're Polish
-Austria...uhh...
-This shit is rigged as hell

Proof? I thought it was rigged, but when Ireland (my country) didn't get through, I have a feeling it isn't. Its just neighbouring countries vote for their neighbours.

I believe that's why most straight men I know voted for them. Their song was good also, but we all know how they got through. Or atleast probably how.

Gosh, Poland was just plastering cleavage everywhere - maybe that made them beat Israel (both powerful stuff from women, plus Poland with the added advantage of coming in later in the night). All in all I don't really have an opinion this year, since the quality isn't as high as 2009 or 2012 or even 2013 ugh. Just hoping The Common Linnets or Molly or Sanna or Conchita take the top spot :P

Seeing how Russia got booed in the first semi-finals after qualifying I think the most perfect song to sum up that reaction would be Ukraine's entry in 2007. Verka Serduchka's Dancing Lasha Tumbai (aka Russia Goodbye) along with the fact Verka Serduchka's actually cross-dressing like Conchita is actually makes the whole thing laughably priceless and scarily apt. ;)

----

Imagine if 2014 was actually like 2007. Russia would be furious to know that it ended at 3rd place just behind a lesbian singer from Serbia and a cross-dresser from Ukraine who was indirectly insulting them :P

It's sad Portugal didn't make it to the final. :( With the rest of the choices, I'd probably root for Italy, as usual.

I heard she sounds awful live, from what the people in Copenhagen are saying. :P

As for Portugal, was that the one that Suzy wore something which looked like a crossover between Dilara's dress and Poland's ample cleavage?

Thank goodness Estonia isn't in the final (since it tells the Estonians that Eesti Laul is for songs that ARE ESTONIAN in nature, rather than what CAN WIN - they ought to go back to things like choosing Birgit even though it has a slim chance, rather than English stuff that always flops like Malcolm Lincoln, Getter Jaani or Tanja).

Isn't anyone kinda peeved that Sanna's doing pretty well although Ace Wilder was your favourite in Melfest?

It probably is. Then again, Suzy doesn't have the luxury of getting the public's attention as compared to other non-qualifiers, such as Tanja, Mei Finegold or Can-Linn feat. Kasey Smith. That alone might have did her in. After all, didn't Rybak, Lena, Loreen and Emmelie de Forest all win because they got so heavily promoted and bombasted on people's minds all the time?

Hmm. The last couple of years certainly, I've had a slightly depressing feeling that I know who the winner will be before the final even started (and I was right). So far I was happy that we haven't really had that phenomenon - both Armenia and Sweden have had some momentum behind them at times. Now Armenia's gone off the boil for some reason (I assume their semi performance, but I don't watch the semis since I like the final to be a surprise), but at least Austria's getting some momentum behind it now. But now I'm worried that Austria (or perhaps still Sweden) will be in the same place tomorrow that Denmark were last year, and Sweden the year before that.

There has been seismic shifts recently. Armenia was touted to win but the semis clearly shown that Aram was awful ugh (that's the only qualifier from SF1 I can't bear to listen - maybe Azerbaijan since it's so boring). Austria has been gaining momentum clearly, and that's great. Sanna seemed to be in a straight fight (albeit lagging) with Armenia until SF1, when Armenia's lacklustre performance pushed it back with the bookies.

I wouldn't say it is still a straight fight though, with Austria, the Netherlands, Hungary (and even Switzerland (!)) all having a decent chance at the trophy. No one has been covered in the media that extensively compared to Loreen or Emmelie, so one can't tell. Conchita has been given a fair bit of attention because of who she/he is, and she/he's powerful vocally. Sanna has been given the usual Sweden star treatment, and Aram and Andras Kallay-Saunders have been given quite a bit of airtime due to their song apparently been good and stuff and just because the press did it. The Common Linnets got theirs because of the star power. I thought Tanja would probably be in the running because they gave her quite a bit to the leadup to semis because of her dance routine but apparently that wasn't enough.

Thankfully unlike 2011, we need not claim an Azerbaijan victory in times of uncertainty because 1) they can't rig the votes anymore or risk losing their ability to participate and 2) their song really pales in comparison, compared to 2011 when favourites Norway and Estonia bombed out due to stage performance, and other favourite Hungary got largely ignored by the press and the song Azerbaijan sent was just a very little bit better as compared to the lot.
