Ashurbanipal had a pretty cool personality, in a nightmarish oh-god-why-would-you-do-that-you-monster kind of way. He made at least one defeated king live in a dog kennel, for example.

But did he live like an animal for 7 years in the desert? No.

Nebuchadnezzar II wins!

Afterward he reigned again though, business as usual. That's the cool part.

As someone who is obsessed with the Mongol Empire, I'm gonna say Genghis Khan. I mean, largest continuous land empire in history anyone?

Mannerheim.

Both in terms of his name, his actions, and being geographically very far north.

Swedens Charles XII. To cool to loose a battle, but, luckily for tzar Peter, also too cool to settle for anything short of total victory.
Defeating Charles was what made Peter "the Great". All it took was reconstructing Russian government and its army (Charles crushed most of the old army... in a single battle), an alliance with Denmark and Poland and a 21 year long war.... for wich he got enough coastline to build St Petersburg.

That said: Peter was way more competent KING, and impressive in all ways. He carried Russia into the 18th century on his back.

Did Nebuchadnezzar kill lions with his bare hands for fun? No.

Ashurbanipal wins!

If I had to pick which of the two major Akkadian civilizations was the best, I'd go with the Babylonians over the Assyrians ten times out of ten, but the Assyrians had the most badass kings by far.

Naw man, it's all about Sargon of Akkad. Founding and holding the first true empire? No sweat.

Even a bull moose doesn't mind letting another bull moose use him as a method of transportation so long as that other bull moose is Theodore Roosevelt.

He, my fellow posters, is cool distilled and refined into a rugged yet sophisticated package.

If Ashurbanipal met Teddy Roosevelt riding his moose, he would grab the moose's neck with one hand and choke it to death. True story.

I would like to see Ashurbanipal go up against a mountain lion with just a knife. In Red Dead Redemption and real life, that is also known as a suicide.

For Theodore Roosevelt, it is a vulgar brawl with an animal that does not have the courtesy to bring a gun so as to make it a challenge that he may use to keep himself awake between reading Tolstoy novels in a single sitting as ways to keep himself awake.

I guess Ashurbanipal is at a bit of a technological disadvantage... However, he would then proceed to bash a cuneiform tablet over Teddy's head, knocking the president unconscious.

Teddy Roosevelt would then regain consciousness, and after Ashurbanipal had recovered from his bullet wound, they would then bond over their mutual love of history and manly facial hair.

Technically not a mountain lion, I guess, but it should count for something...

Then it shall be a fight between equals.

There would be only one way to resolve the draw:

Tolstoy trivia!

That's not a fair competition - Tolstoy was not alive in Ashurbanipal's time, and therefore Ashurbanipal would not have been able to conquer and pillage Tolstoy's land with his armies to obtain his collected works, as he did with other written works.

King Arthur was obviously pretty cool, what with his open relationships and druid friends.
