With your every day carrying expertise, what caliber would you say it is chambered for?

PS. No such thing as an assault rifle. Made up term for scaremongering....

Assault rifle is very much a real term, if not an official one.
"Assault weapon" is the made-y up-y one.

I'm not. LEO is just doing his job, as nutjob militia more often then not don't deserve to be carrying publically.

Anything from .22 to 308. Though Id venture to say 6.5 or 6.8 based upon the tacticool Yankee Hill muzzle brake you have on it.

Askerike wrote:PS. No such thing as an assault rifle. Made up term for scaremongering....

I guarantee you, my Colt M4 select fire 5.56 is most certainly an assault rifle. The term you meant here was "assault weapon" lad.

Don't get too upset. Not everything I have is ComBloc. Some of it is 'Murrican. My AR lower came back in today from US Anodizing, so I'll get to join the Cool Kids Club here in a few weeks, I believe.

I'll sell you some of them. I've got some 91/30s and type53's that I've cleaned the cosmoline out of. I can match if not beat any online retailer's prices. I can still get wasr10s out for right around $500 bit I dont have any. Aks sold like hotcakes after the russian import sanctions obama laid down.

So, out of my own curiosity, I decided to tally up prices on this photo.

From left-to-right, going by total cost I've put into them and not initial sale price. If it was a gift/payment, I'll just put their MSRP for reasons;
  • Izhevsk M91 -- $450.00
  • Tula M91/30 -- $125.00
  • Tula M91/30 PU repro. -- $500.00
  • Izhevsk M91/30 -- $130.00
  • Izhevsk M91/30 -- $130.00
  • Izhevsk M91/30 -- $130.00
  • Izhevsk M44 -- $300.00? (I've never paid regular price on one of these)
  • Izhevsk M44 -- $275.00
  • Budapest M44 -- $175.00
  • Izhevsk M44 -- $100.00
  • Type-56 -- $400.00 (overpaid)
  • GP WASR-10/63 -- $550.00
  • Waffen Werks AK-74N -- $575.00 (~$100.00 for the plum furniture, I think)
  • SGL 21-94 -- $2,320.00
  • SGL 21-61 -- $1,800.00
  • Saiga IZ-132 -- $800.00? (Rifle was free and I put ~$400 into the conversion, some parts not shown here)
  • Saiga IZ-109 (Saiga-12) -- $1,500.00 or so

So, that's $10,260.00 worth of ComBloc long-arms covering 100 years of design.

I see, and I missed the handguns. My bad.

I can't say I really like com-bloc weapon myself. The only military type weapons I would be inclined to collect woulf be various ARs, the PS90, some pre-AR U.S. weapons (the M1 for starters) and a variety of handguns. I will have some $20k to spend once I get to Texas. :)

  • Base rifle; BCM RECCE-14 (14.5" barrel; midlength DGI system)
  • Pinned 'A2 flash hider
  • Fixed 'A2 front sight
  • Midlength Fortis keymod rail
  • Dem PMags
  • AimPoint CompM4
  • Troy folding rear BUIS
  • CMC drop-in ~3lbs. trigger
  • MagPul MOE+ grip
  • MagPul CTR stock

Not sure what light/mount I'll use, but it'll probably be a SureFire 6P-series light, for sure. I honestly have no idea what the price is since I typically ignore costs on "SHTF" rifles, but I'm sure it'll be up there a ways, but definitely worth it for a do-everything AR. Shouldn't be too far off from my $2,320.00 AK, anyway.

Nice. I may build a custom AR. Of course, some of the specs will differ (barrel length for sure).

I would love to build one in 17 Remington with a long (for an AR) barrel. Essentially an AR based varminter.

And that makes sense. Chances are, this AR of mine would only be used for clearing a home (like I mentioned: building this if I have to supply my own rifle... or perhaps I'll build it, anyway), so length is a major concern here. A super-varminter AR would be pretty nice, though, especially out in Texas. I wonder if they make any in .220 Swift.

Not sure, but I think the Swift is too long for the action.
