There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears, and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination.

The internet was made as a method of population control.

Computers were invented by the UK's Government Code And Cypher School, thus are more likely an SIS-cum-MI6 conspiracy. (They'd tried it earlier, but Babbage refused to insert the monitoring cogs, so the secretive forerunner to the Department of Topography & Statistics cleverly manipulated him to go-slow instead, so that if they couldn't get in from the start, nobody could.) Of course there was also Konrad Zuse, for Germany's Air Ministry, but history (and idiots at the top) intervened.Avenio wrote:The internet wasn't a CIA project, but computers were.
Faraday Cages don't work. Remember Michael Faraday was working in London, in a public information capacity, and thus was well-placed to spread misinformation by the DoT&S.Better go build a Faraday cage in your basement, OP.

So would it be beneficial to segment the internet for the sake of national security, this is the question.
EDIT: If the Internet is indeed a CIA project, then I recognize that this is probably being monitored. Please be aware that if you post it is possible that American intelligence is recording it. I think its worth the risk though to have a discussion.

Edward Snowden is a treasonous bastard. He deserves life imprisonment in the highest security prison on Earth for what he did to his countrymen. Nobody should listen to his disgusting words.

Yep. There's a reason some shit is classified, to put it lightly... it's about protection of sources (a good deal of those sources being human beings who people like Snowden endanger), not necessarily the information that we have.
