Legislation that would make the Holy Bible the official state book of Louisiana

First I was "OFFICIAL STATE BOOK WHAAAAT".
Then I saw "Louisiana". Oh well. A new fundie state located around the same latitudes of other fundie states like Saudi Arabia.

Look Keep Government out of Religion and Keep Religion out of Government.

I hate religious types wanting their religion influencing the government, but hating when the government interferes with their religion.

Doubt the separation of church and state will really go as far as to limit the contents in state-honored books, if such was to be the case, then virtually no state books would be likely to survive the process. As long as the 'In God we trust' are on the paper in which the lawyers are paid, they are gonna have a hard time making this stick in any court.

But seeing as the Bible already is mountains and heaps as far as sales go above all other books, the only question remains is likely to be 'why.' Will be honest enough to say that I am not too familiar with Louisiana literature, but is there no historic piece of writing they got to show for it? I'd suspect that an official state book should have at least origins in said state.

Huh. We have state books now? Cool, I want ours to be 1984. No, Jennifer Government.

I guess if this happens, it'd be... fine. I mean, it isn't like they're turning their state into a theocracy. So I guess go ahead Louisiana, do your thing.

Okay, this "official state thing" business has officially jumped the shark. Can the U.S. just pass a constitutional amendment banning states from adding any more official state things, please? If we don't nip this in the bud, in ten years we'll have official state intestinal parasites and official state mass shooting incidents.

I'm really surprised by this I'm a Christian and I live in Louisiana but disagree with this being an official statebook (didn't even know that was a thing). I disagree with this legislation and hope it doesn't get passed. As said before by another poster, religion and government don't go together.

This.

I don't know what's more funny, state books or the people's reaction to it. I'm going with the latter. Just some of you are making a big deal over something small like this.

Something small like a textbook violation of the 1st Amendment.
