I think this is all a load of c**p. Kids my age will always watch porn. It isn't even debatable; they will!

Furthermore, I think the worries of children watching pornography are highly overrated. They say porn teaches boys to act differently with women, I cannot comment on that (look at my nation name haha). However, that is not the case in gay porn. (Again, I'm not saying that it is in straight, I just only understand homosexual). I have watched porn for years, and that has been both for enjoyment and education. There is hardly any sexual education anymore, never mind that of LGBT.

The answer is not to block porn sites, but to educate children on sex (and porn) and also for us to make it so that kids are more comfortable about discussing said subject.

The Government plans to make anyone aiming to view porn online prove that they are over 18 years of age through new requirements for website owners.

The new laws will see adult website owners forced to block anyone unable to provide proof that they are over the age of 18, in a bid to crack down on children viewing pornographic websites, The Sunday Times has reported.

The system is expected to be similar to one used abroad, with credit card details or official records being provided those visiting pornographic websites in order to gain access. Sites that fail to comply with the measures will be blocked.

A statement from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, said: “We are legislating to put R18 material that can only be sold in licensed sex shops behind access controls on video-on demand services.

“The same protections should apply online as offline and we are clarifying the law to make sure that is the case — we want the legislation to be in place by the end of the year. No decision has been made about offshore sites.”

The proposal would follow Prime Minister David Cameron’s introduction of web filters by internet providers to block access to unsuitable material, and combat online child pornography.

It's weird actually, I remember someone asked me for a credit card number to view porn once. I left that website, and never came back, thinking it was a scam. Turns out it was the UK Government. IMHO, the government should harshly crack down on porn sites where the actors are kids, but if the actors are all 18 or older, and a teen views it, it's not going to be that devastating. Not to mention the sheer availability of this stuff that can be accessed from other countries via proxies. A lot more damage is done to the kids with the repeated sex drive and peer pressure that society encourages, than porn sites. "What the fuck, you graduated high school a virgin" shouldn't be that big a deal, it should be the norm.

According to Hinshaw and Kranz, teen girls are under intense pressure from both peers and parents to excel in every area of life simultaneously. Kranz and Hinshaw believe that the social pressure to be perfect in too many aspects of life is causing an epidemic of mental and emotional problems in teenage girls. As of 2005, 10 percent attempt suicide, and compared to past years, more of these attempts are serious. The percentage of teenage girls who self-injure by cutting themselves is not known, but Kranz and Hinshaw believe it has been increasing rapidly.

Hinshaw advises parents to help their teenage daughters step back from the pressure to be seen as perfect. He encourages teen girls to concentrate on figuring out their own identities and what they want out of life instead of concentrating so much on building a strong resume for the future. By encouraging your daughter to think more about what she really wants for herself, you can help reduce some of the dangerous social pressure to achieve perfection.
