Even the Mods are screwing around! This thread is devolving fast.

You can only take so many religious threads seriously before you finally lose your sanity. :p

Mods can lose sanity now? Man, their training regeme needs a workover before Mod Quality slips any further.

Mods actually had sanity? :?

...basically, I´d say, the Great C´tulhu is the best, but there´s the problem of learning all this unspeakable and forgotten ancient languages for correct praying as well as worshipping the Great C´tulhu is somehow a bit risky, with all the crazy CoC-gamers outside, only waiting to shoot you in the back for being a cultist.
Another good choice would be Mammon, he seems to rule almost the complete known world secretly...great benefits will await you !
Depending on what you prefer for afterlife (severe lifelong worshipping required), Allah seems to offer some pretty good things (paradise filled with virgins, aso), while, if you´re more of the sensitive kind, the Christian God would be okay for you (eternal sitting on cloud seven while prancing, singing "glory, glory" or playing the harp and being stupid happy, and provides some cute pair of wings too).
You´re more the action-guy ? Well, then try those old-style pantheons, they´ve got lots of action there, including war, intrigues, orgies, love and extramarital adventures, pretty fine soap.
Hinduism is cool, as it provides you with endless experiences of being a grubworm maybe, or a NS-character, but it´s hard to memorize all those millions of different gods...
But wait - my friend here Mr. Lou Cypher is accidentally claiming to have some open position for devouted followers (never raped and sacrificed a virgin before ? oh, you will love it), he would offer great bargains too; just sign...
And there are many others too - well, that´s really a hard decision to make, especially when some of those gods are really possessive to a grade, so take my advice and stay as an Atheist, that´s much more easier...

Hey, do you remember that thread in which LG posted? That time when he was all serious? Do you remember that? That was awesome, wasn't it?

Yes, I do remember that. he's actually done that several times recently, it's a bit mind-blowing

Christ.

I think Christianity is the most brutal religion.
1:God is brutal in the Old Testament, commanding the Israelites to slaughter whole peoples. and always make sacrifices.
2: When the Israelites screwed up, horrible things ensued.
3: Plagues/Drought
4: All the curses of original sin.
5: Elijah slaughters the prophets of Ba'al.
6: Christ whips the vendors at the temple
7: Turning the other cheek is a brutal policy..
8: Loving your neighbor.. VERY difficult..
9: Self-denial.
10: Forgiving everyone.
11: Every read about Tribulation? It's pretty brutal.
12: Read Dante's Inferno, Purgatario. Pretty hardcore.
13: Inquisition practices.
14: Being a Monk/Nun/Priest is pretty brutal. Poverty, Chastity, etc.

I wouldn't go for the Eldritch abominations that some people keep suggesting if you want to retain your sanity. But remember that Cthulu is awesome. Devours 1d6 adventurers per round.

I'm assuming the context of your personal spiritual revelation would've revealed that. If it didn't, I'm sceptical of it actually being a spiritual revelation from God. Could've just been collective effervescence or tiredness or any number of mundane, unspiritual things.

i disagree.

a non religious person can have a religious revelation and then have no idea what to do with it. especially if you get to the "ok it was the christian god" part and are left with the mulititude of christian options out there.

Well, that would be outside my religious tradition, so I wouldn't know much about confusing, divine revelations.
