Yeah, let's dump our fellow countrymen, because they're poor farmers. Even though only 2% of Americans are farmers, and the majority of the people in those regions don't farm, fuck 'em. They have funny political views and don't live near water.

It's still a farming economy.

Oh no, it's the primitive farming people! Look at how un-modern they are, without all of that industrial stuff!

So America is just going to go without it's major farming states? I am sure they are totally unneccesary. Who needs food, right? And this simply because you are under the arrogant impression that since 2% of Americans in those states are actual farmers, they are all poor and worthless?

The SAR and MAR would have their own Congresses and Executive Leaders, and be able to make their own laws in most areas, but would still have to pay taxes to the Federal Government, albeit lessened. I am not too keen on the details of this plan, but the borders would be very flexible and the Regions would be independent enough to satisfy their inhabitants while still being subjected enough to contribute to the nation.

*cough, cough*
I think the problem is that we're approaching this like these new federations need to be necessarily independent. Countries around the globe have semi-autonomous regions that benefit both sides of the agreement.

Within the industrialised states it would. This is like saying if all the millionaires in the world moved to their own Island it would be the fairest island in the world because the distribution of wealth would be much more equal. It is technically true but ignores that the problem of the imbalance of wealth distribution is a global not a national one.

Wisconsin was built on the backbone of industry, not farming. We make things all the rest of you need, same with a lot of the Midwest. Honestly, if you kick us out, we'd most likely flourish under our now-international trade while the rest of you fell into debt and crashed. Don't have the money to buy our various basic necessities? Too bad. Though, if you get down on your knees and beg, we might let you join us as a subjugated territory of the Midwest.

Cutting off half of the US, and the majority of it's agricultural states is anything BUT good. I am at a loss on how that is difficult for you tog rasp.

No, it won't. The Midwest holding farms is hugely important as exports. The world buys huge amounts of wheat (among other crops) from the US, not to mention it would deprive the US itself from these crops. It would be a huge disadvantage.

Not to mention economic centers like Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Kansas City, Omaha, St. Louis, many Texan cities, Denver, etc.

And the Midwestern cities are good cities, too.

Out of the ones I've been to, they all put Los Angeles and San Francisco to shame. Except for Austin. It was just a humid San Francisco.
