I think one of the Dutchies is Dec 2002 as well, I just remember it on Jolt,
I hear babies cry, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

If I recall Demoness is one of the first 2002 nations, though it's hard to remember for certain since it was so long ago.

Demoness was created 23 November 2002. I've been bested. :) Not that that really surprises me...

Just on Nationstates period. There's a few nations with a population over 14 Billion, but I don't know which has been around the longest.

You cant base it wholly on population because any period of inactivity where your nation "dies" and must be restored pauses your pop growth.

March 21, 2003 for me. I don't think population is an absolute indicator either. I can remember 'back in the day' that some of my friends had more people even though they'd started later than I did. I have 14.5 billion right now.

There was a thread about this on Jolt a couple of years ago, I think. Hack mentioned a nation which had been created the day the site went live (and was apparently still active), although I can't remember the name.

When I was stopping by the region of North America during my world tour, someone there mentioned having been around since 20 November 2002. I also know the founders of Wysteria have been around since '02, and quite possibly some of the other nations still resident therein.

Among mods and ex-mods, Cogitation, Menelmacar, Feoras(/Demoness) and Myrth are all '02 nations, November or December. Maxtopia predates all of them, though. ;)

My first nation (Lorenya) dates back to 2003 (age of only thirty issues), but it's long-dead. The mods may be able to date it, but I imagine there are older nations around.

You can get a rough idea of who the oldest nations are when the "Largest Nation" WA poll comes around next, although there were some users who benefited from an early bug in the game that caused their population to grow faster than other users. Praetor, who has topped the "Largest Nation" WA poll for a few years now, used to have it; I think he joined around the same time I did.

My first nation was probably founded in early-mid January 2003. My first nation was a misspelling of "Amon Amarth," which means "Mount Doom" in Elvish. My second was a libertarian nation that has CTE'd like four times--this is my third or fourth account and was founded on 05 Feb. I didn't start posting on the forums until I had this account, which is so named because I couldn't think of any other "Melkor" variation that wasn't already taken.

As for remaining active (or semi active) users, the oldest I know about are TJ, Demoness, Menelmacar, Scolopendra and Karmabaijan, all of whom predate me I believe.
"I am the Elder King: Melkor, first and mightiest of the Valar, who was before the world, and made it. The shadow of my purpose lies upon Arda, and all that is in it bends slowly and surely to my will. But upon all whom you love my thought shall weigh as a cloud of Doom, and it shall bring them down into darkness and despair."

Yes, the Blaatschapen is from mid december 2002, making him one of the oldest still active players here.

I'm from 16 april 2003, though my oldest two nations are from february 2003 but are long gone.

Equus, The Bruce, and The Grendels were all founded on Dec. 21, 2002. Bruce immediately founded Wysteria and we recorded the date in the WFE. Epona was founded on Dec. 31 2002.

There are quite a few old time Wysterians with over 15 billion population who didn't have the pop bug.

The world is not cyclical, not eternal or immutable, but endlessly transforms itself, and never goes back, and we can assist in that transformation.

It's not just that. Even without the pop bug (most of the nations in the list at The Galirandi's link were affected by the pop bug), nations don't grow at the same rate. I have secondary nations that are larger than my main nation (which was created first), but both were created on the same day (but not affected by the pop bug). I think Bruce even has nations that were created a few days later than his main nation that have a higher pop.
