Well, if you're confident that she likes you as well, then go for it. Take the initiative and ask her out. Just be yourself because, who else could you be? She'll like you for who you are, and that's how it's suppose to be.

To be fair, in that case, it's a superior who might have a conflict of interest.

They'll favour whoever they're fucking. The professor will give good grades to his student, the boss will promote his secretary, etc.

But if you're not in an administrative position, I don't see the harm in dating a peer.

My brother has a professor in TCU who married one of his former students on the program at the school's suggestion because they were having a romantic relationship(as to avoid any drama or scandals outside of the college).

Yea, my brother's school chairman is pretty relaxed, for a Christian school.

And well, it is sad yea. By the way, it was even more scandalous in their view because the former student was still an undergrad of the program, so it was kind of "dude, you do realize the problem you'll be getting us if you don't marry this woman?" kind of deal. She cannot be his pupil though, so she has to take classes with other instructors that are not him.

Nepotism is a thing they considered but he was of good standing in the school so they let him do it. Also, he was single, and never been married, so w/e.
