16 year olds certainly do not appear like children. I've had several people mistake me as being older than I really am, some have even thought into my twenties. I'm only a year older than the guy in the story. Moreover, biology would certainly classify him as closer to an adult than to a child (clearly being of mating age and all).

And that's why I'm saying the law needs to not do that, and instead have more elaborate definitions that are more in-line with reality.
