Someone having the right to do/think/believe/etc. something does not mean it's not dissapointing if they do.

You'll need some reason why it's disappointing that people believe in religion. Meaning some intrinsically bad aspect to religion.

Can such a thing not be true of all ideologies? Why would it be disappointing to see people believing in a god, yet not so for people following any aspect of an ideology?

As well, believing in a god itself does not require any other belief, a great many of the religious just believe in a personal god, and accept science.

Well, they are showing a lot of disrespect to Him, if they deny His right to freely choose His current attitude. Or they are just plain cowards, who desperately seek a safe point in the constantly changing universe, instead of accepting God´s will which apparently makes everything shift.

1) I cannot say, as the motives of a creature that is unable to be understood cannot be argued by either of us.
2) In order to allow the seed to be planted.

Because the foundation of virtually all modern religion is the concept that you must believe in something even if it does not appear to be the case.
