its hard to figure out what is acceptable in the modern world when so much of it is utterly different from what happened in the ancient world. so theologians do their best. the OT is very clear on not eating blood. it would seem that the early church dumped all the jewish dietary requirements EXCEPT for the eating of blood and the meat of strangled animals.

who are they to say that new-fangled "consuming" of blood in the form of transfusions is OK just because its medical?

I have no problems moral or otherwise with faith and belief in a higher power but I can't stand organized religion. I have no problem with religious people, my problem is with the religions themselves and their dogmas which lead to greed, war, genocide, and other terrible things.

No one is forcing you to watch them. Also, scathing satire is a successful method of explaining skepticism, because there are many people whose minds have been changed about religion from being confronted with how silly it is. For instance, in Christianity God sent his son who was really himself to Earth to die in a human sacrifice to God, thus sacrificing himself to himself, and then came back to life and instructed the creation of a Church where people to eat his flesh and blood through the means of bread and wine. Also, somehow through his death our sins were forgiven though sin and hell still exist. I don't know about you, but I find that extremely silly.
