After Max Barry dies, I feel that it may almost certainly be hereditary: one of Max Barry's children (Finley or Matilda) takes over ownership in a few decades, the other sibling gets pissed, starts an NS clone and takes part of the user-base, then the new owner tries to bar others from going to the competitors and vice-versa until everyone abandons both sites and start a new NS.

In any case, anyone who doesn't remember the ORIGINAL forums, simply hasn't been around long enough to have seen it all, and thus, their opinions, by nature, are somewhat lacing in background. Bah gawd, we had to refresh and refresh and refresh just to get a one-liner response in. And sometimes, it'd glitch and post it multiple times! Like more than 3! Many multiples! And the game would clog. And the lag would be horrible. And we would sit glued to our screens waiting for a response and then LEAP at the chance to respond in kind. Wash, rinse, repeat. I won't even get into The Great Purge. I'm still bitter over that. And if anyone mentions the name of a particular crater, states that they want us to 'talk to their father' about their ban, or get into how things are flat on top, for stealth, I've a pillow here with your face slated for it.

Yup, I'm ancient. I remember when people used to carry cash and you could only cash checks at the bank and if you pressed 'zero' on a phone that was of course wired to a wall because there was no other option there would be a bored human being on the other end wondering what your major malfunction was.
