I imagine God (if exists) to be an omnipotent and omnipresent sentient driving force of the Multiverse. A force that created (and creates?) all the Universes with their rules and, thus, his existance is "spilled out" everywhere. If that is true, then keep in mind that this force doesn't "care" for us. At least the way we mean it perhaps.

I have no well thought theories about an afterlife though.

I must say I am not an atheist, but I definitely do not believe in any of the nonsense about heaven/hell big dude in the sky judging us. I do believe that, because we are as much a part of the universe as anything else, some part of us is conserved, and continues on in some form. The only heavens and hells are those we create for ourselves. Live well, or poorly, your choice. But do I wish for a more direct god? Never. I like things the way they are.

What's that mean? Do I wish that suddenly there would be an omnipotent force at the helm, do I wish that reality was exactly as it is now except god exists, or do I wish that the universe was one where god had always existed? I'd take 1 or 3 but 2 implies there is an all powerful being who is an absolute tool.

Good to know people can generalize beyond reproach. There is a reason the doctrine of the everlasting brimstone hell is only sound in fictional literature such as Dante's comedy. Nonetheless who is forcing you to worship?

I like the idea of an afterlife (optional, duration dependent on individual choice, no hell), but the idea of a universe controlled by an omnipotent conscious entity is ugly to contemplate.

If this entity is as evil and spiteful as basically all religions describe their deities, then the universe would be like in the Cthulhu mythos. Worse, really; the various Old Ones don't really care about humans while gods have petty human desires and vendettas, making people do things and then punishing them for it, et cetera. But regardless of whether it is good or evil, its existence and omnipotence would render pretty much everything humans do pointless. Our existence would essentially be entertainment.

Just a note, the Bible doesn't describe hell as eternal torment, TG me for more about this. Heaven is just a reward, nothing to hate about it.

Bible mentions "Kingdom of Heaven" and "Kingdom of God" along with Sheol and Gehenna, along with the "grinding of teeth in darkness". In fact, Judaism mentions nothing of heaven. Only the New Testament does.

Being raised Catholic and conducting my own research, I have fairly strong knowledge on this topic. Again, with the concept of heaven, it was developed primarily by the New Testament; you see people within the old being rewarded within their lifetimes for their "faith" and works. Hell is a fairly modern theological concept.
