Sex in humans has a social role. We do not just have sex to reproduce, it's a part of social bonding and our inherent desire to interact with other humans. It is as human as the urge to argue with other people o the internet and feel good about yourself afterwards.

Asexuality is a valid orientation that should be equally acknowledged and respected as heterosexuality, homosexuality, bisexuality, pansexuality, etc. It is no better than any other orientation. And by the way, rape is not a primarily sexual act; rape is an act of sadism that is incidentally sexual.
