Perhaps they can add an *other* tag in which we can personally decide what we want to be. I mean, it's anyone's line nowadays. Right? We can all be whatever we feel like thanks to the magic of Disney.
Now to be honest, I feel as though FB went overboard here. They caved to social conformity and while I get that they are a massive social-networking site, was there really a need to do this? There was male, Female, or Other. I only see people in First World Countries only getting butt-hurt over this whole "gender" issue and it doesn't need to be. We get it, you aren't in the *norm*, then select other and get over it. You wish to be identified by a non-gender associated pronoun, fine, select Other, you wish to identify with female pronouns, then select "female", and if you wish to identify as male, select the "male" option.
In other words, there was no reason for them to do this, they just want kudos for appearing to care about non-conformative minorities and their supporters.
its worth it for the research value alone.
otherwise its worth it for respecting people's feelings at the cost of a few lines of code.
