A coulda sworn something like that existed.

Yep. As Glasgia noted, it's the Forer effect. It works in a lot of other things too, like horoscopes.

Anyway, I'm an INTJ.

I actually tried to show why the effect's influence is likely to be limited on this test, but whatever :p

Sometimes I'm not sure if I'm an extreme introvert or an incredibly shy extrovert, tbh. :b But hey, as long as these isles have internet access!

Here's how you determine it fairly easily: When you go out, do you gain energy or lose it?

Lose. But I've seen more definitions of introversion/extroversion knocking about than I can count, even within the MBTI sphere.

Generally introversion and extroversion are simply methods of energy acquirement. If you are around people and you lose energy, you're an introvert. If you are around people and you gain energy, you're an extrovert. That's why introverts prefer to stay in, whereas extroverts prefer to go out. That's the very basic version of it. I recommend reading Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking.

The name sounds familiar. I might have read it before. From my understanding, though, in an MBTI context, the technical definitions are based around whether your introverted or extroverted functions were dominant or secondary.

Which is utterly meaningless, since MBTI is mostly nonsense, but still.

Quite. I tend to look at introversion and extroversion from a different perspective, something more scientific.

Well, I "lose" energy when I'm around a large group of people I'm unfamiliar with, but I do gain energy when I'm around a few good friends.

I can connect this with, perhaps in a less defined sense. Around my friends and generally in places I'm comfortable, I'll be fairly extroverted. I'm more than happy to talk to new people, but as soon as I'm outnumbered in a group by people I don't know - That's when I can become shy.

Also, I'm a complete fail at talking to girls unless I'm completely pissed or I know they like me.
