strongly (89% each) IN, very weakly TJ. The latter one is surprising and new; I think I've been more clearly INTJ in the past, but this test gave me 1% and 11% on the last two.

I'm not sure about that last one in particular, though. I find that I am happier when I can meticulously plan my life, but that my ability to actually do so is fragile. I suppose my more productive phases coincide with moving towards the J end.

INTx. I bounce back and forth between INTJ and INTP.
I support peace in Israel and Palestine. The governments and people in power on all sides are an absolute disgrace, and their unwillingness to pursue peace is a disservice to the people they are meant to be serving. The status quo is not simply untenable; it is unquestionably unacceptable.

I could make a machine that spits out four letter combos. I could give you one that matches. Doesn't mean it works. It has no more grounding than the "What Smurf are you?" quizzes that your annoying friends on Facebook send you.

It gave me that same type 3 times in as many years(stupid 4-year plan).
2^(8*3)= 16777216 possibilities. 3/16777216 = 0.000000179 = 0.0000179% chance that would happen if the answers were truly random.

Isn't there some sort of psychogical phenomenon, where, when you take tests like this and it spits out an answer, you tend to attribute the most positive attributes the tests lists to your actual personality, when, in reality, you probably don't act like that at all?

A coulda sworn something like that existed.

I'm an ENFP, but in certain situations can appear to be a bit of an INFJ (mainly due to my mildish OCD). I've taken these tests quite a lot and I almost always get ENFP so aye. I'll put my actual result of the actual test the OP posted here:
Extravert(67%) iNtuitive(100%) Feeling(88%) Perceiving(11)%
You have distinctive preference of Extraversion over Introversion (67%)
You have strong preference of Intuition over Sensing (100%)
You have strong preference of Feeling over Thinking (88%)
You have slight preference of Perceiving over Judging (11%)

The actual test is hardly pseudoscience. If you answer questions in a manner usually perceived as Extraverted, that's what you are. If you answer questions in a manner usually perceived as Introverted, that's what you are. To a large majority, they claim the test seems accurate enough and that seems fairly solid evidence - when personal opinion is the only measure to test against - in favour of the test. Repeated results also appear to give some credibility to the test, rather than any random combination of letters.

Of course, the Forer Effect is more than relevant here. Supposedly, it appears accurate because that's what he hope for. We believe because we want to believe, an observation applied often throughout history from the Battle of Adowa to the supposed diaries of Hitler. However, I'd argue the Forer Effect's influence on the test. Firstly, Forer gave his students largely positive analysis - The positivity of the Myers-Briggs test depends purely on how the reader interprets their results, thus meaning that there is no obvious bias either way. The scientific categories, as opposed to a superficially detailed and personalised analysis, are likely to diminish the belief in a personal accuracy in the reader.

However, at the end of the day, people can believe and it's up to them. It's barely harmful, unless mistakenly applied in a scientific manner - Which I very much doubt it's validity is sufficient for. I quite like having a look at what I get clumped with and find it a fairly decent representation of me.

I am finding this test highly flawed.

I could point out that yes/no is way too limited and some of the questions make little sense (why do I have to choose between justice or mercy? I can rarely find a conflict from my understanding), but the main issue I find is that people are often very bad at honestly knowing these kinds of answers.

I actually had a conversation yesterday which wonderfully demonstrated this point. I was taking a break from work with some freinds and we discussed what we are like when we are drunk. One guy in particular noted how he was very quiet when he was drunk, a comment which made everyone else look confused as he talks quite a lot more when he is drunk.

Now of course that is an instance of being drunk and not neccesarily reflective of many of these questions, but the principle is easy to find. I know people who would answer no to "Your actions are frequently influenced by emotions" when its pretty damn hard not to have your actions influenced by emotions; indeed the only people I have heard of who would not qualify for yes have lost emotion due to brain injury/defficiency. Or people who consider themselves incredibly altruistic but are parasitial and arrogantly egotistical at best.

My point is that the best that this test can offer is what people think they know about themselves.

Apparently I am an INJF, which has me being creative (nope), intuitive ( ) but otherwise somewhat describes how I perceive myself.

Contrary to the propaganda, we live in probably the least materialistic culture in history. If we cared about the things of the world, we would treat them quite differently. We would be concerned with their materiality. We would be interested in their beginnings and their ends, before and after they left our grasp.

I've said this before, but it's another thread that's asking the same question, so I guess my only other choice would be to not post, and what kind of person would *that* make me?

Anyway, my parents did this, and they say it really helped them. I'm refusing on principle to take the online test, because I'd rather go through properly in an unbiased way one day, and I suspect having a previous result would bias me somewhat.
