Yeah, but I don't think it works the other way around, because the structure of DNA in eukaryotic chromosomes is a lot more complex.

Hey, at least if that happens we'll get resistance to soil parasites in our gut.

My whole family eats GMO foods. Nearly everyone I know eats GMO foods, and they're perfectly healthy.

That makes me wonder why there are so many fears when GMO foods are already so common.

Because of that, I have to agree with the government reasoning behind not requiring corporations to label foods as GMO. It would scare off people for no reason.

Well, Splenda is a chemical sugar substitute, while coffee and cows are selectively bred to impressive lengths.
They're certainly not natural and all interfered with, if not necessarily produce of GM.

Monsanto making GMO's, meh, not a fan of it.
Their legal department and how they handle contracts is however, fucking scary.

It isn't scary. Their legal department is a model of corporate efficiency other businesses should strive to emulate.

Yes, suing the victim of cross contamination due to wind and winning is certainly the type of economic environment we want.

Can we just admit that 90% of the reason we don't like Monsanto is that they sound like the evil corporation from an 80s movie?

All the more reason to increase business regulations and reform the legal system, is it not? A corporation can't be faulted for going to extreme lengths that they are allowed to legally achieve.

Ding ding ding.

To be honest, I don't consume synthetic sugar if I have a choice.
As far as coffee is concerned, I am attempting to cut back.

And cream is just... just wonderful.

I have an eggnogg addiction in the winter, and that needs to stop.
I'm with OP that we should be aware of what is in our foods and drinks.
But his paranoia is off the charts. If you, personally, don't want to consume something, that's fine.
I don't judge OP for not eating GMO. It's the irrational fear that gets me.

I don't use synthetic sugar because there are varying reports on it's link to cancer.
http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/fact ... sweeteners
The site says it's safe enough, but it's obvious enough that regular sugar is healthier (in general amounts).

I want to cut back on coffee and caffeine in general. It's just a little much, always being "buzzed" on caffeine.

I'd like to think I have perfectly normal reasons for why I do or don't consume certain things.
I think if OP calmed down and looked at the situation from a more neutral point of view, he'd be better off.

Um, yes it can. See, I view corporations as collections of people. People should have a little moral fiber, just a tad, so as not to use the legal environment to force them at the point of a gun to buy their product or be sued out of house and home. This is especially true if their actions were in no way to blame for what you're suing over.

Walmart can legally duck Obamacare by hiring all part time staff, and pay them slave wages. They're still shitty for doing so.

I'm all pro for having all ingredients listed on produce, as well as a breakdown of calorific content and nutritional information - as well as calorie information in restaurants.

Knowing just how many calories are in foods has been a complete eye-opener for me, especially with a calorie counter app I got for my phone as well.
Never realised that the little sandwiches I was making for lunch had the calories of a Subway six-incher.
Admittedly, I was taking large pieces of white bread, jamming three different kinds of processed meats and a dollop of BBQ sauce in for good measure and maybe three times the recommended serving size of peanut butter into the other sandwich, but it was impressive to realise how bad an idea that had been.
