It's quite disgusting that these three cults continue to hold such sway over the human race, I agree.
"Concentration of power in a political machine is bad; and an Established Church is only a political machine; it was invented for that; it is nursed, cradled, preserved for that; it is an enemy to human liberty, and does no good which it could not better do in a split-up and scattered condition." - Mark Twain

Greater-London wrote:I'm so ambivalent toward Israel. On the one hand I find the treatment of the Palestinian people, illegal settlements and attacks on civilians revolting. On the other I see the only functioning democracy in the region, who aren't recognized by most of their neighbors with some threatening to nuke them of the face of the earth. I simply don't think the way the Israeli government behaves is any different to most liberal democracies in that situation.

It'd be far less vicious if it wasn't an ethnoreligious state.

And no, before someone else asks, no, people don't have "right" to their own state, such a concept is ludicrous.

Quite frankly, I would like to see solely two states for the Levantine region, Israel and Jordan, with Jordan being a republic in union with the West Bank, Gaza and the Sinai that would have the help of the West to fight groups like the Hamas, and with Israel having a multicultural, multinational state in conjunction with Lebanon and Syria. But of course neither Muslim pride nor Arab nationalism will let it happen even if Israelis really became the innocent poor little angels people often paint them to be in exchange for a lot of things, including aside obvious resources important to them and stability and looking fine to the international community and even neighbor countries, a future frontier with the EU. Eh.

Yet it is still a functioning democracy - far more so than other states in the region, it also enjoys greater political and social stability. Democracy of course is not the be-all and end-all but its INCREDIBLY important, I also reject the idea that its innately a"buzzword" when it definately isn't. All the article does is make several incorrect assumptions about what democracy and freedom means suggesting that it equates with a neo-liberal pro-American agenda which isn't true.

Problem is that the conflict has been going on for way to long...
Israel had a chance to start a peace process, but they chose to go the hard way (mostly becouse of the US)

The only chance for peace over there is that Israel removes all of its settlements, and that Palestine gets rid of all those happy rocket firing hippies.

genocidal kurdistan

I'm talking about Jews that have plenty of the developed world and the elites of the best third world countries ever to exist, no need for nationalism among them.

But yeah, the Kurdistan question is troubling. To be frank, I'd like the whole area to be an autonomous region of Turkey at least until it becomes more developed. And people often present a view of Kurdistan not much in line with how things actually work there, like Turks are ebul racists and genocidal and whatnot, being that they have a pretty fine life, especially in comparison with the standards of the Middle East.

I know your not supposed to feed troll's (which I hope you are) but how can you say I have no opinion? how can you say that I'm garbage? your just acting like a child. If you can't tell me why I need to stop posting in this thread then you have an opinion but no argument to back it up - which is incredibly annoying
